Hon. Julius Debrah (Chief of Staff) Speaking at the 2026 Commemoration of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (World Drug Day)

Hon. Julius Debrah, Chief of Staff at the Office of the President, has reaffirmed the Government of Ghana's unwavering commitment to combating drug abuse and illicit trafficking, stressing that the nation's future depends on the health, creativity, discipline, and potential of its citizens, especially the youth.

Speaking at the 2026 commemoration of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (World Drug Day), he noted that substance abuse weakens families and communities, while every young person lost to addiction represents lost potential for national development.

He warned that individuals involved in the trafficking of illicit drugs would face the full force of the law, emphasizing that the Government of Ghana will not allow criminal enterprises to undermine communities, endanger the youth, or compromise national security.

Hon. Debrah called on all stakeholders to work together in protecting young people from the dangers of drug abuse and building a safer, healthier, and more prosperous Ghana.
